Other Special Products

What is it made for?

The subscription special product makes it easier to manage a member’s subscription by automatically filling in the dates and the member type on the person’s details when selling the product.

Characteristics

They are the same as standard products.

Properties: the “member subscription” special product must be selected.

Member type: You need to choose the member type that will be assigned to the person who buys the product. You may have to create a new member type.

Type of subscription: you need to select the duration of the subscription that will be affected to the person upon buying the product. You may have to add, edit or delete the durations given on the list.

Edit status: You can choose to set the standard duration as soon as the first payment was made or when the subscription has been paid in full. If you opt for the second option, a person who has not paid completely will not be able to start using the service.

How does it work?

When you are at the cash register and click on a special subscription product, a window will open. It contains several boxes and some of them are already filled in. You just need to check or edit the information provided and to fill the empty boxes:

Examples

If you want to be able to list all the people who have taken a subscription for a given duration, you need to create as many subscription products as there are member types and durations.

Example :

That makes 8 products and 8 member types.

This method is usually the one that clubs start with but when communicating with your members, or when setting your rules for reservation or special prices, only the “Full time”, “Full time student” or “full time weekly” notions are used. Creating some many member types was therefore useless because you will have to use them all the time in the application.

You can also proceed as follows:

That makes 8 products and 4 member types.

There are fewer member types but this method can still be improved. If, when communicating with your members, or when setting your rules for reservation or special prices, only the “Full time”, or “weekly” notions are used, you can use even fewer member types:

That makes 8 products and 2 member types.
